The Art of Subtlety

Cris T Halverson

I find it a compelling irony to use modern tools such as digital manipulation to return to the styles of Pin-Up in the American 1940’s – 1960’s, when artists did their best to make their paintings and illustrations realistic.

It is an interesting challenge to “work backwards” in reproducing the style of Pin-Up; that is, to start with photos of models and through digital manipulation make them more painterly.
